Volunteers in Place Service

Creating Friendships

Complementing our Home Care Packages and under the Community Visitors Scheme, we’re proud to offer our Volunteers in Place Service. Similar to a ‘buddy system’ the scheme brings together volunteers and our clients who are looking for new friendships.

Any care recipient who is feeling lonely or isolated and whose quality of life could be improved by companionship with the Volunteers in Place Service can be referred by:

  • Their aged care provider
  • A family member
  • A friend
  • Themselves

Supporting the Community

The Community Visitors Scheme helps support the community by:

  • Supporting visitor resident relationships
  • Recruiting, training and supporting volunteers
  • Matching volunteers to care recipients

Who is eligible?

People currently receiving a Catholic Homes’ Home Care Package who have limited or no informal support or are feeling isolated and alone would benefit from a Volunteers in Place Service.

This one-on-one service offered by the scheme further supports our Home Care Package clients by allowing carers to focus on their clients’ existing physical and clinical needs.

Become a volunteer

Joining the Volunteers in Place Service as a community volunteer can be a rewarding experience. By befriending an older person, volunteers also have a chance to make a positive difference to their own lives.

Both aged care recipients and volunteers bring a wealth of diversity from a variety of social and cultural backgrounds.

Anyone interested in becoming a volunteer with our Home Care Team should contact us on 1300 244 000 or homecare@catholichomes.com

Additional Home Care Services

About Home Care

Our Home Care service supports older people in the community with a wide variety of services.

Home Care Packages

Our Home Care Packages provides a co-ordinated range of services tailored to meet your care needs and to help you stay in your own home. We offer four levels of packages to provide choice and flexibility in the way your care and services are provided.

Respite Care

The opportunity for carers to take a break and to rest is important. We offer respite services in your own home with a carer or in one of our seven aged care residences if a longer period of respite is needed.

Pastoral Care

Regardless of your religious beliefs or practices and at no extra cost to your Home Care package, we can visit you in your home to support your spiritual and emotional needs.

Private Services

Private Services cater for people who cannot access government-funded packages, who need some assistance or for those that need a little bit more than what the Home Care Package provides. Completely flexible and tailored to your needs, Private Services are fee-based and dependent on the service provided.

Day Therapy

Our Day Therapy Centre offers people 65 years-of-age and over living at home access to affordable Allied Health and Wellness Programs. The Centre offers individual sessions with our professionals, in addition to a variety of group classes.

Short Term Restorative Care

Our early intervention programme helps prevent, delay or reverse the need to enter long-term care, as well as improving wellbeing and independence. Short Term Restorative Care provides a range of services for up to eight weeks, depending on your needs.
