Catholic Homes Recognises First Nations Peoples as the Original Elders of Our Land

As we come together to celebrate NAIDOC Week 2025, we proudly recognise and honour the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the original Elders and custodians of this land.

This year’s NAIDOC theme, “The Next Generation: Strength, Vision & Legacy”, invites all Australians to celebrate the enduring wisdom of First Nations Elders and to walk alongside the emerging leaders who are shaping a better future.

At Catholic Homes, we acknowledge that long before the arrival of European settlers, the Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples lived with deep respect for Country, Community and Culture. Their Elders have passed down knowledge, traditions, and stories for tens of thousands of years, fostering strength and resilience across generations.

As an aged care provider, we deeply value the role of Elders in every culture and especially acknowledge the profound cultural authority of First Nations Elders.

Throughout NAIDOC Week, our homes and services will be holding a variety of activities and reflections to honour the contributions of First Nations Elders and communities.

To all First Nations Elders, we say thank you for your strength, your guidance, and your legacy.
