Ian Smith Wins Catholic Social Services WA Employee of the Year

We’re proud to share that Ian Smith, Pastoral Assistant Carer at Catholic Homes, has been named the Catholic Social Services WA (CSSWA) Employee of the Year.

The award, presented at a special Mass and morning tea celebrated by The Most Rev. Timothy Costelloe SDB, Archbishop of Perth, recognises individuals who embody Catholic values and go above and beyond in their service to others.

Ian was honoured for his deep commitment to dignity, compassion, and solidarity – walking alongside residents, families, and colleagues with gentleness, respect, and care. His work extends far beyond the expectations of his role, from offering comfort during times of grief to supporting a retired priest in resuming the celebration of Mass, enriching the spiritual life of our community.

Catholic Homes Acting Executive General Manager Mission, Richie Perera, said, “Ian’s dedication to the values is truly an inspiration. He sees the dignity in every person and responds with love and humility. We are incredibly proud that his service has been recognised in this way.”

We congratulate Ian on this well-deserved honour and thank him for the grace, compassion, and quiet leadership he brings to Catholic Homes every day.
