Sharing Laughs and Slices at Our Day Therapy Centres

At Catholic Homes, our Day Therapy Centres in Guildford and Belmont provide vibrant community hubs where clients come together to learn new skills, connect with friends, and enjoy a good dose of fun.

Recently, at Guildford, they served up a delicious activity that had everyone smiling, pizza making! The room was filled with laughter, conversation, and the unmistakable smell of fresh dough and melted cheese as each person created their own culinary masterpiece.

Barbara was especially proud of her creation, describing it as “very tasty!” Freda had everyone laughing as she tackled the sticky dough with enthusiasm and later took the recipe home, eager to recreate the experience for her family.

John embraced the challenge of crafting his own pizza base and was the first to dive in at lunch, clearly excited to taste his hard work. Mary carefully chopped the capsicums, grinning from ear to ear, while Halina and Doreen teamed up to shape their dough with plenty of joy and floury hands. It was also a special day for Rodney as it was his first time in a cooking session, and he absolutely loved it.

These cooking activities are a regular part of our current program, helping participants build confidence, improve coordination, and engage in meaningful, purposeful activity, all while enjoying the simple pleasure of good food and even better company.

Whether it’s stretching in an exercise class, chatting over a cuppa, or getting out and about, our Day Therapy Centres are all about supporting older people to live life with purpose, joy, and connection.
