Care with Purpose in action

We are said to have a tendency towards work and activity, Care with Purpose provides a way to feel useful and allow people to feel they contribute to their community.

At St Vincent’s we have had the pleasure of hosting third year Curtin University occupational therapy students over the past three weeks.

One of their tasks while on placement was to work on developing a role with our residents.

Here we have OT student Caitlin working together with Catherine to set the tables in the dining room in preparation for lunch.

Diana has also been very helpful by rinsing the dishes after meals and stacking them into the dishwasher.

Job roles help our residents improve their self-esteem and provides them with an opportunity to contribute to their community.

As winter settles in, we have put aside our Ice Cream Trolley for this season and introduced our brand new Hot Chocolate Cart! Our residents were delighted to have a warm treat and it brought back memories of the wintertime. Here we have Margaret helping us push the Hot Chocolate Cart to each wing and help serve the delicious hot chocolate.
