Meet Yvonne

“I like to see the funny side of things!”

Yvonne was born in Upington, Northern Cape province in South Africa.

She completed high school in George, and then majored in Social Sciences and completed a Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Welfare Management at Rhodes University at Grahamstown.

Yvonne worked as a Personnel Officer at Searles Limited, where she met her husband, Allan. They lived at Great Brak River and Somerset West.

Yvonne has been involved in Rotary, the National Council of Women and the South African National Tuberculosis Association.

“I had a very happy childhood, surrounded with family, aunts, and uncles,” she said. “I loved a friendly game of tennis but now knit, do jig-saw puzzles and keep up with the news and technology.

“I have a strong faith that has supported me throughout my life.”

In 2004 Yvonne and Allan moved to Australia where they lived at Bull Creek, before moving to Catholic Homes Castledare in Wilson in 2019.

Yvonne shares that her secret to success is a happy family, deep faith, and showing an interest in people.

“I give thanks for the gift of every new day received with gratitude, with all its joys and challenges.”
