Home run for quality pair

As we create a new modern residence on the site, former Marist Lodge staffers share a common call in returning to Catholic Homes.

Manager Quality and Compliance Mark Backhouse was the Facility Manager at Marist several years ago and returned to us in 2022 because of shared values.

A Marist multiskilled care partner from 2014 to 2017, Nisha Fenwick is now our Home Care Clinical Quality Lead, and she made the choice for similar reasons.

Both said Marist was a special place with an amazing team and for Nisha it was a foundation for her nursing career.

“It was a lovely, intimate facility with 40 beds, where both residents and the team treated each other like family,” she said.

“I will always cherish the time I spent there. I am happy for the residents to have a new home with a new team to care for them. I wish both the residents and staff all the best with this transition.”

Mark said it has been like coming home: “this is an organisation that cares about its residents, clients and its team members which is how it should be.”

“I think it’s very fitting that Catholic Homes has created a new home where Marist once was and I feel it’s the next chapter for Catholic Homes and am very excited to welcome Sister Mary Glowrey, its residents and the team to the Catholic Homes family,” he said.
