Peter’s passion for home care

Our Day Therapy Centre, language/culture and entry-level home care services have a new team leader in experienced community care practitioner Peter White, who joined us in May.

He has been employed in aged care for nearly 20 years and long beforehand, he had cared for both his parents and grandparents at home due to age-related illnesses.

“I have a passion to ensure people wherever possible can experience what my family did, to have the support and skilled staff to remain living independent in their own homes with loved ones, pets around them,” he said.

Peter brings a wealth of skill and experience having been a wellness assessor, crisis care worker and client services officer and coordinator for many years in the aged care sector.

“I have obtained great outcomes for people by identifying the strengths and weaknesses impacting someone’s ability to live independently while working closely with physios and OTs,” he said.

“In my new role as CHSP Team Leader for Catholic Homes I hope to continue this at our amazing day centre at St Vincent’s in Guildford, and support people and their families navigating their way through the My Aged Care System.”

Outside work, Peter is a licensed reptile remover and enjoys fishing and walking.

“I enjoy completing woodwork tasks with my sons, and my father was a carpenter, so I am trying to follow that as a ‘chip off the old block’,” he said.

Until COVID, Peter also enjoyed amateur acting, especially as a dame in traditional pantomimes, and being Welsh, he loves singing!
