STRC is the free seniors in-home care service

More help for seniors to avoid or delay the need for residential care is now available in regional Western Australia.

The Catholic Homes service has been extended to seniors in Perth’s south west and eastern suburbs and the Wheatbelt, Great Southern. Goldfields and South West regions, following a recent Australian Government funding allocation.

Catholic Homes’ Short Term Restorative Care program is available to older people experiencing difficulty with daily living and who do not have a home care package.

The STRC home care program is aimed at older people who have had a change in health, mobility or memory or need to address their care arrangements.

“Our services can help you regain or recover at home and get back to things you enjoy with the people you love, at no cost to you,” said Executive Manager Home and Community Care Kylie Steele.

“Because STRC is a Commonwealth Government funded program, clients pay no out-of-pocket costs for this service.”

Clients can receive up to eight weeks of support and could be eligible for two rounds of assistance within a 12-month period.

Depending on circumstances and choices, STRC is comprehensive and may include assistance such as:

  • Home modifications
  • Transport to appointments, outings and social activities
  • Support with meals and food preparation and special diets
  • Personal care and help around the home
  • Nursing and allied health

STRC can help seniors achieve their goals and stay at home longer. Contact our friendly team who can help get you started.
