Meet Moyra and her passion to paint

Moyra started painting at the age of 56 without any training. She loves the beauty of art and works in oils, watercolors, acrylic, and pastel mediums but says her favourite would have to be oils.

Moyra loved painting in a quiet place by herself because she found it relaxing.

Moyra enjoys all her paintings, but her favourite subject to paint was flowers. She belonged to the Trigg Art Club and entered works into many exhibitions such as the Royal Show, Rotary Club, Army Art, Artcenta, and the Waratah and Trigg art exhibitions.

A winner of several awards, the artist said she has  met some wonderful people and made great friends through painting.

She felt very touched when people commented on her work or purchased one of the paintings and hung it in their home, including a man from New York, who bought a painting of the Perth skyline Moyra had painted out on the ocean from a boat looking back towards the city.

He took the painting to New Year and hung it in his office at the bank he worked at to remind him of his time in Perth.

Moyra’s artwork on display

Moyra doesn’t paint as often now due to an eye condition; however, she has an album on display at Trinity Village.

The album contains the history of Moyra’s painting career, awards, and achievements, which she often enjoys sharing with visitors and staff.

Occasionally, the easel and paints are set up during one-on-one sessions to create the environment Moyra enjoys. Thank you for sharing your talent, Moyra.
