If you've ever thought of volunteering for a good cause, we have some spots free for our Volunteering in Place Service. Similar to a 'buddy system' the scheme brings together volunteers and our clients who are looking for new friendships. Joining the Volunteers in Place Service as a community volunteer can be a rewarding experience and by befriending an older person, volunteers also have a chance to make a positive difference to their own lives as well.
The service complements our Home Care packages under the Community Visitors Scheme and supports visitor resident relationships, matches volunteers to care recipients and recruits, trains and supports volunteers. Both aged care recipients and volunteers bring a wealth of diversity from a variety of social and cultural backgrounds.
Who is eligible?
People currently receiving a Catholic Homes’ Home Care Package who have limited or no informal support or are feeling isolated and alone would benefit from a Volunteers in Place Service.
Any care recipient whose quality of life could be improved by companionship with the Volunteers in Place Service can be referred by their aged care provider, a family member, a friend or even themselves.
This one-on-one service offered by the scheme further supports our Home Care packages by allowing carers to focus on their clients’ existing physical and clinical support needs.
The service is also available to anyone who is currently receiving a Home Care Package in the metropolitan area.
