The young and happy spirits of school children have been adding a little extra joy to Ocean Star residents in Bunbury.
The pupils from Maidens Park Primary spent time chatting to residents and sharing stories over morning tea.
“It’s a great thing for the residents to interact with younger children and it’s very important as it helps prevent them from feeling isolated from the wider community,” Lifestyle Facilitator Jacquie Brown says.
“It’s just lovely to speak to young people,” 86 year old Ted Gumley says. “I have grandchildren but I don’t have much contact with them, so this is a really heart-warming experience for me.”
Children from the school’s choir will return at Christmas to sing and play drums for the residents.
Teacher Judy Chitty says; “It’s a good experience for the children, especially as it’s nice for them to be able to give something back to the community.”
