Date Night initiative attracts National Catering Award

Catholic Homes have been awarded the Catering Innovation of the Year Award for their ‘Date Nights’.

The award was presented at the 2017 OSCAR Hospitality Aged Care Hospitality National Awards (ACHA) at the Pullman Hotel in Melbourne last Friday.

The Date Nights were held because staff recognised the need for residents and their loved ones (especially those with dementia), to enjoy time together in an intimate, romantic environment as opposed to the routine of visiting hours. The first Date Night evening was held on Valentine’s Day at Castledare and Valentino’s restaurant was created. On arrival each lady received a red rose, while the men were given a chocolate. Champagne on ice and canapes were also presented on arrival, followed by a three course fine dining meal, coffee and liqueurs.

Castledare Village's Lifestle Facilitators, Helen Haynes and Kym Livermore, were absolutely thrilled to accept the Award on behalf of their team and Catholic Homes.

Congratulations to all the staff involved for their dedication and care. We are enormously proud of your accomplishments and of receiving industry recognition for Date Nights, which truly does bring Joy, Love and Hospitality to our residents!
