Bouquets of gorgeous roses were everywhere to be seen at Catholic Homes residences throughout Perth in February, thanks to a belated Valentine’s Day delivery.
Every resident and staff member at Catholic Homes’ six facilities were given a bunch of beautiful red roses, thanks to Western Australian Flower Export (WAFEX), which had a surplus of flowers after Valentine’s Day so donated a truckload of 70 buckets containing 8000 roses to the not-for-profit aged care provider.
Catholic Homes chief executive Sonya Smart said residents enjoyed the spectacle of thousands of roses being delivered to head office at Castledare Village in Wilson.
“Our reception area looked something like the fields of poppies in the Wizard of Oz: there were roses from one end of the place to the other,” she said.
“We are enormously grateful for the WAFEX donation.”
“Sometimes elderly people can become quite lonely or isolated around special days such as Valentine’s Day, particularly when their partner might have passed away, so it’s really special for our residents to receive such a beautiful and thoughtful gift.”
Catholic Homes Incorporated has been caring for WA seniors for more than 40 years and provides a range of services including independent living, residential and home care.
